Empire Total War Update

Today Empire Total War has been updated with some Fixes and some new content for both Single player and Multi-Player. The changes have been applied Sept. 22, and can be read as following.

New Content

Two (2) new historical battles: Battle of Rossbach and Battle of Fontenoy. Both available in single player and multi player
Missile cavalry can now fire and reload whilst on the move

Balance Changes

Overhaul of naval balancing
Dragoons are available from higher building levels and now have fire by rank
Light Dragoons have gained longer range guns to allow them to skirmish better
Reworked cavalry costs to better reflect their value on the battlefield
Increase in cost to Windbusche Jaegers and Ferguson Rifles
Some improvements to projectile balancing
Balance improvements made to Road to Independence Episode 3

Fixes

Fix for auto unlimbering causing the attack order to terminate prematurely resulting in an inability to stop the unit from firing
Fix for troops on fort walls not using fort gun range when judging when to fire on enemy troops
Fix for fort guns using wrong targeting formula
Fixes to fort pathfinding and use of ropes
Multiplayer soft lock fixes
Fix crash in quotes table
Improved AI diplomacy
Cumulative updates to improve AI invasion behaviour
Added tooltips for alliance button in diplomacy
Bug fixes and improvements to AI counter offers
Improvements to AI diplomatic valuation of military access and alliances
Fix for wind sounds not working in naval battles
Fixed ship wakes not always working
Fixed disembarking subsets of armies and agents from navies
Fixed potential crash disembarking agents from navies
Fixed armies not being booted out of regions when losing military access gained by joining an ally in war
Improved AI diplomacy valuation of technologies
Fix for bug where general's unit for an upper class rebellion was coming from the region owning faction rather than the faction rebelling
Fixed reinforcements from unreachable positions
Fixed bug preventing disembarking
Balance of power fix for attack of opportunity
Fixed bug that was causing issues with embarking an army containing multiple characters
Minor tweak to stop some ship sails endlessly play furling sound
Fixed path blocked bug
Diplomacy counter-offer improvements
Fix for fast forward not working as intended on some PCs. Will always speed up if camera is still, if camera moves fast forward will be as fast as possible on each PC

GameSpot: All Time Greatest Video Game Hero Controversy

For many of you who have recently visited GameSpot may have found yourself on the "All Time Greatest Hero" bracket. You may also noticed that the first round is plagued with unfair match-ups such as Cloud Strife vs Lester K. Chaykin, or Master Chief vs Bub & Dub. But if you were like me an you saw Bub & Dub you immediately voted for them, because they gave you some of the best times you've had playing games growing up. Even last week me and 4 of my friends, lost our selves in gaming bliss playing Bust-A-Move for the SNES for 4-5 hours straight. And if you did vote for them you also weren't surprised that Bub & Dub were winning.

But many users and GameSpot admins have found themselves quite angry that Master Chief was losing.
The part that is hard to understand is how people could be upset over a popular vote. For once the under dog over came the #1 Fan Favorite and this is being called "Garbage"? Better yet, why was Master Chief up against Bub & Dub? It could seem to appear that GameSpot was trying to give Master Chief a pass. Why not put him up against Gordan Freeman, or Snake?

I have noting against Master Chief or Halo, but the point is, no matter who wins or who losses, people will still not find themselves happy.

Team Fortress 2: Cheater's Lament (Honesty Halo)

For many Team Fortress 2 players the method of obtaining new hats has not been favorable.
But for some players Third Party Programs and Idle Severs were a god-send for obtaining the stylish new hats. But in the recent update many players who have used the Third-Party programs for idling may have found that their items have been removed that were "illegally obtained".

But for many of the players playing fair, they have been rewarded with a new stylish hat to reward their honesty.

Fallout 3 DLC around the corner for Ps3

So everyone waiting for the new Fallout 3 DLC should go and check out their
trophy list on their ps3.

You can see, with a platinum in Fallout 3, the trophy list shows Fallout with a 57% completion percent. And as all PlayStation 3 owners know that this implies a game has DLC.

Here you can see the Alien Archivist trophy which has you collecting all Alien Captive Recordings which can be found in the Mothership Zeta DLC.

So hopefully we can all be looking forward to an early September release for all 5 new upcoming DLC.

Battlefield 1943 launches but whos playing?

Battlefield 1943 launched earlier today for Xbox users. For those who got it early were able to find a good of amount of games and a fun Xbox Arcade game.

Downside now, is nobody is able to play, they have stated that they are adding extra severs, but many players have found themselves losing connection, lag, and just not being able to find any games.

In the Spirit of 4th of July, We at Tunnel Snakes Rule wanted to get you all ready for the 4th by looking back at the most Patriotic moments in gaming.

5.“Welcome to the White House”(Metal Wolf Chaos)

If you haven't played the game your not going to believe what I'm about to say. For those of you who have your about to say “LETS PARTY!” You play as the Fictitious President of the United States named Michael Wilson, using a power suit named Metal Wolf who battles forces who taken over his country.

In the beginning of the game you BUST out of the White House in your powered armor, and you must start taking back America by liberating cities and outposts coast-to-coast.

4.Are You A Bad Enough Dude?(Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja)

This game can been seen quoted all over the Internet! But on 4^th of July its no joke! The game takes place in New York City, where the President Ronnie was kidnapped by DragonNinji.

The game starts as a Secret Service agent appears and asks two street Brawlers, named Blade, and Striker:

“The President has been kidnapped by the ninjas.

Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the President?”

Not only does he refer to the men as one dude but a dude that has the chance from going from street brawler to U.S Hero.

3.Freedom Fighting (Freedom Fighters)

The player finds themselves in an alternate present time, were the Soviet Union brings an end to the Second World War by dropping the first atomic bomb on Berlin, changing history. As a result, the Soviet Union never collapsed, and instead became a superpower.

Now what moment made this game Patriotic? I want to say which part didn't this game has you fighting the Red Army for the whole game and feel like you and your resistance group are the last hope for America. After capturing many Forts and areas you raise the beautiful America Flag over the Island of New York. While the Resistance group celebrates the liberation, Chris is worried that the Russians will return with vengeance but Isabella states that they'll be ready!

2.The Death of The Boss(Metal Gear 3)

What defines patriotism is the love, pride and devotion for your country. But what if you have to give your name and your reputation as well? That is exactly what the Boss did. The Boss (a.k.a. The Joy) threw away everything she had for her country. Her missions was to be killed by her apprentice, Naked Snake (a.k.a. Big Boss) and die as a traitor, as a sign for all the other countries messing up with the United States. Any men with pride knows that your name sometimes is the only thing you have. Now to be able to throw your reputation and your name out for you country is finest example of patriotism. So The Boss, we salute you.

10.Price

Launch day prices, majority of the time, are cheaper then its console counterparts. Prototype on steam released for $50 USD $10 cheaper than its console counterpart. Steam has offered various deals the most recent Empire: Total War for 50% off. Cheap gaming is always a plus in this economy.

9. Valve

Valve has been the saving grace for PC gaming. Everything from Half Life, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike, Team Fortress, and most importantly Steam. To restate, Steam offers an unmatched digital distribution platform with an incredible community.

8.Massively Multilayer Online Role Playing Games

You all knew it was coming. From Everquest to World of Warcraft. It brings together everything people loved about the table top Rpg's and allows them to do it from the comfort of their home. Consoles have tried to tap into the market with Final Fantasy XI, but how many people willing to pay $50 for Xbox Live and $15 a month for a game.

7.Who needs Mascots

Many people have criticized, “but...PC doesn't have a mascot”. This could be a good thing. We all love Mario to death, but does PC need a game series that comes out with 4 games a year. This is why Half Life is so loved, Gordan Freeman is not milk for every possible game. Look what happened with Left 4 Dead 2 when they announced a new game to fastm PC gamers don't enjoy rushed products.

6.Free ware

Freeware is amazing, especially during a recession. Countless time during the day, you know while you should be working, your playing Battlefield Heroes or a Flash Gaming site, and enjoying those hours of free gaming.

5.Game Back Ups

So you just bought Chrono Trigger off Ebay for around $200!, and your dieing to play it, don't want to take it out of the wrapping to ruin it. Well guess what! You may find Roms and play it on the computer as a back up. ROMs themselves are not illegal per se, so read up on them before you check that out.

4.Open Source

Open Source is amazing, it gives countless replay to gamers. Here is where the PC is unmatched. Developers are never constricted to release a patch to fix a game, which means faster fixes and even faster content.

Don't like a User Interface in a game, change it to however you please. Only your imagination limits your customization in games(and some brain power). Fallout 3 its self has over 50 mods that allow you to have constant hours of play time, even better a few NSFW mods ;).

3.Cutting Edge Technology

Consoles are always playing catch up when it comes to PC graphics. People say it comes at a cost, but a new video card every couple of years beats a new console every 5-6 years.

2. Real Time Strategy Games

Some people may say “But they have Real Time Strategy Games on Consoles” Your answer to this should be “No, there isn't”. Command and Conquer, Empire series, Starcraft, Warcraft. I don't even want to go on listing RTS games I might start to ramble on.

You could almost say Computers are the “Alpha and Omega” of gaming. They entered the market in 1977 and they are still around. Since people are going to keep using computers to socialize or work, computers are going to find themselves as an elite system

America's Army Patched But Many Still Having Problems

Following the launch of America's Army, there has been a plague of problems, which left the game entirely unplayable. But on June 19th they released the following patch that was suppose to fix the game.

America's Army 3

Removed apparent lag caused by other players entering or leaving a server
Improved start of round spawn issues
Resolved problem with training results not saving
Improved communication with Authentication server
Eliminated freezing up when moving from one training mission to another
Cleared up hesitation during training missions
Significantly reduce number of authentication transactions between player and Authentication server
Solved achievements save and display problems
Improved Login communication with Authentication server
Improved player statistics tracking for better accuracy
Improved overall performance

As many people can tell, even with the patch there hasn't been, an overall performance improvement.

America's Army is live......but working?

Many Steam users who have pre-loaded America's Army weren't
very pleased when trying to play upon release. After a few hours after release Steam users are still finding that multiple sever related issues arise.

Many users have reported multiple problems ranging from

Game still being locked
Steam sever too busy to handle your request
Not being able to authenticate severs during training

America's Army in now promoting a new pre-load, hopefully things will get going after it has finished

Hope things get settled sometime tonight so
that we may all be able to enjoy this game.

Left 4 Dead 2 Acceptance Group Starts to Rise!

A small group of people tired of the Left 4 Dead 2 Boycotts
has risen up. Its growing slowly but raises some valid opposing points. Such as....

- 5 New (Connecting!) Campains! And, the possibility of including the original 4 Campains!

- Finales aren't just "hold out and wait for rescue", it's "get your ass across the highway to rescue"! Think about it, how many times have you played a Versus match where one team died at the start of the finale, and the other team held out until rescue was about to arrive, then died, but BOTH teams got 200 points? Well, distance can now be measured for fair gameplay!

- Better gore effects! Who can resist bloodier zombies with more places to "gib"? Not me!

L4D2 Boycott Reaches Over 30,000!

"The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott is a group of individuals who have pledged to boycott Valve's upcoming release of Left 4 Dead 2 on November 17th, 2009. We have assembled a manifesto outlining the basic concensus of many members of our community."

The Group has hit an outstanding 30,000 members in only a short time, and is starting to raise valid points.

"-That Left 4 Dead 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Left 4 Dead or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners."

I do believe the game should not be made free, but at least an expansion integrated with the first L4d so that the community is still kept together and makes life easy.(So you don't have to switch between games to play different content, I'm looking at you ROCKBAND!)

Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott?

The Left 4 Dead 2 boycott has reached well over 20,000 members. But is this boycott really necessary? At first I too, was quite angry when they first announced Left 4 Dead 2. But after some time and recollecting. You have to look at the facts. New location, new features, and what every fan has wanted....melee weapons!

Even with the 20,000 plus fans boycotting how many will actually boycott the game.
Even if it does reach 30,000 it doesn't seem like it will really heavily effect Valve's upcoming sales because we all know every game they released the fans have gotten a lot more then their moneys worth.Here is a look at the Official Left 4 Dead group and the
